If you’re planning to attend the APS Global Physics Summit in Denver next week (along with about 14,000 other people), please visit the World Scientific booth to check out my book Understanding Time and Space. They’ll have copies for inspection and copies for sale.
Understanding Time and Space is an invitation to the theory of relativity for anyone who is now or has ever been a bright high school student. It illuminates the theory through analogies with everyday phenomena we’ve all been familiar with since early childhood. How can Alice say Bob’s clock runs slow when Bob says Alice’s clock runs slow? For the same reason that Alice can say she’s facing right while Bob insists she’s facing left. This book explains why.
On a different note, anyone who’s still reading this has no doubt noticed that my blogging frequency has fallen off. I’m hoping to gear up for some more posting in the near future.
